Michael and I hadn’t been to the La Fortuna area to visit Arenal volcano in several years. Michael’s sister Paula came visiting Costa Rica for the first time so it gave us the perfect excuse to take a mini vacation from the farm. We stayed at Villa Vilmas in La Fortuna. Nice clean fairly inexpensive place with very nice front desk staff and a great outdoor pool. The highlight of the trip was going to Baldi hot springs and enjoying the thermal pools and of course the swim up bars. We have been to Tabacon hot springs previously and I’d say that for the price Baldi is a better deal. Same fabulous pools and exotic setting but about two-thirds the price and dinner included.
Volcano’s create their own weather and it was a bit rainy, so we declined our zip-lining adventure that we had scheduled. We still did a great hike around the lava beds of the volcano. Really nice hike with a lovely view of Lake Arenal.
