Rescate Wildlife Rescue Center

The area is very picturesque, not very touristy and not far from Volcano Poas and La Paz Waterfalls. On our way to the Volcano we saw a sloth hanging from a telegraph wire!! We had a wonderful stay here and would love to go back. ~ Helen M, U.K.

Poas National Park

The big attraction. Make sure to head to Poas early in the morning when it’s clear. While drinking your morning coffee on the Bamboo House deck, you can see if the Volcano is foggy on top. If it’s clear head on up! Once you have seen the volcano crater, take the walk thru the cloud forest to Lake Botos

Ask Jose about the trail up the Volcano slope. The lower section has wonderful views and makes for a lovely morning walk. The upper section is steep and for those who like the challenge of getting “to the top.” You’ll end up at the Altura Hotel.

La Paz Waterfall Gardens

A must do!!! La Paz is truly spectacular. If you are up for a fairly strenuous hike, take the waterfall trail. the waterfall views are mind-blowing. The restaurant is also quite good. When we were last at La Paz, there were many big cats rehabilitating as part of their rescue program. The butterfly garden is one of the best in the world

Grecia

The Metal Church of Grecia. After checking out the one of a kind metal church, there are plenty of restaurants and coffee shops to stop for treats. One of our favorites include Nelson’s restaurant or really go local and stop in the Central Market and belly up to one of the many fine local sodas (Lunch counter). Stop at the spectacular Los Chorros waterfalls on the way to Grecia.
